Scientific article published: A Review of Electrified Methane Conversion

Researchers from e-CODUCT project partners NIC, CO NOT and TOTB have co-authored a new review article “A Review of Electrified Methane Conversion: Utilizing Electrocatalysis, Plasma, Electric-Field and Electro-Thermal Technologies,” published in The Chemical Record

The article highlights how emerging electrified technologies—such as electrocatalysis, plasma processes, electric-field effects, and electrothermal methods—can transform methane, a potent greenhouse gas and abundant feedstock, into valuable chemicals using renewable electricity.

These approaches face challenges in catalyst design, reactor engineering, energy efficiency, and scalability. By addressing similar scientific and technological questions, the review provides valuable context for e-CODUCT’s work on electrified catalytic processes for sustainable chemical production.
