The joint event of the Horizon Europe projects THE ELECTRIC DECADE Workshop
The Electric Decade workshop, organized on 17 January 2024 by various Horizon Europe projects, focused on showcasing innovative electrification technologies supporting the EU's climate goals. The event, led by the e-CODUCT project and co-organizing projects EReTech, ēQATOR, TITAN, and STORMING, featured insights from experts Franz Hörzenberger (ArcelorMittal) and Walter Vermeiren (TotalEnergies). Discussions emphasized the role of electrification in achieving circular economy goals and decarbonization, presenting projects with diverse approaches, such as e-CODUCT's technology for CO2 valorization, EReTech's electrified reactor for hydrogen production, and ēQATOR's electrically heated catalytic reforming reactors. Other projects, TITAN and STORMING, presented microwave-heated catalytic reactors and innovative structured reactors, respectively. The workshop included a round table and Q&A session, engaging 130 participants from across various sectors. A follow-up event is envisaged near the end of the projects (late 2025/early 2026) to present the projects results under the form of developed electrification technologies as solutions to reduce emissions, integrate renewable energy, enhance energy efficiency, promote circular economy principles, foster innovation, and drive the transformation of industries towards a more sustainable future.
